The prevalence of the so-called “woke agenda” in British institutional culture has become such a significant issue that security experts are now proposing a major police reform. According to a recently published report by British authorities, the country’s police methods need to be reformulated to prevent ideological biases from hindering the work of law enforcement officers.

The report was authored by a team of experts led by Lord Blunkett, a former Labour Home Secretary, and published on July 6. The document states that British police forces are facing several serious problems that require immediate resolution, describing the police as “plagued by corrupt leadership, nepotism, abuse of power, and low morale among officers.”

Local experts had, in fact, long been pointing out these problems. Corruption is a key issue within the British institutional landscape, affecting the police and other important sectors of society. However, the document also draws attention to another issue that had previously been ignored by local authorities: liberal ideological biases.

Commonly referred to as “woke culture,” the liberal ideology that advocates favoring specific groups based on ethnic or gender identities has become a major challenge for the British police. This ideology essentially prioritizes ethnic minorities, immigrants, LGBT individuals, and others deemed “historically disadvantaged.” In many instances, there is also a bias toward favoring women over men, based on the view that women have historically been “oppressed” in “patriarchal societies.”

This type of extremist liberal mentality – which judges people based on their identity rather than their concrete actions – naturally leads to terrible consequences when applied to police practice. The result is a police force that acts with bias, often failing to punish actual criminals simply because it assumes that an individual belonging to an “oppressed” or “disadvantaged” group is inherently the “victim,” while those belonging to groups historically viewed as “oppressors” or “privileged” are automatically labeled as “aggressors.”

The report accuses British police officers of “taking sides in the so-called ‘culture wars.’” The document makes it clear that a criminal’s identity should not be taken into account during a police approach. Any person, regardless of ethnic or gender identity, must be treated by the police based on their real actions – ensuring that criminals are punished rigorously and victims are supported, without distinction based on anyone’s identity.

“Police leaders should be resolute in refusing to take sides, or to be diverted from the course of focusing entirely on the prevention, detection and prosecution of crime (…) The background or identity of any perpetrator or victim of crime should have absolutely no bearing,” the report reads.

In fact, the document is a response by local authorities to the consequences from the case of Henry Nowak, an 18-year-old murdered in 2025 by Vickrum Digwa, a British Sikh man of Indian descent. Nowak was stabbed by Digwa with a ceremonial dagger while walking home – an incident captured on camera.

When police officers approached the scene, Digwa falsely claimed that Nowak had hurled racist insults; consequently, the officers ignored Nowak’s injury and handcuffed him while he bled to death. In effect, the officers chose to believe Digwa simply because he belonged to an ethnic and religious minority, completely disregarding the concrete facts of the case.

At the time, the case sparked widespread outrage, driven not only by the brutality of the murder but primarily by the officers’ actions; they prejudged Nowak as the “aggressor” and Digwa as the “victim” based solely on their identities. The case had a massive impact on international media, prompting statements from major public figures, including X owner Elon Musk, who harshly criticized the officers’ conduct.

Initially, British authorities reacted to public outrage with disdain. Prime Minister Keir Starmer even accused figures like Elon Musk of attempting to “divide British society,” completely ignoring the seriousness of the incident. However, the pressure became so intense that it was impossible to ignore the disastrous situation of the British police and the liberal influence over the authorities. Consequently, a recent document was published, recommending a shift in attitude among police officers.

In fact, a complete renovation of British police culture is necessary. It is essential to eliminate the liberal ideological elements that prejudge individuals based on their identities and to prioritize an analysis of concrete reality in order to prevent injustices. For this reason, the current document should be viewed as a good step forward for the country.

However, it remains to be seen whether there is still time to reverse this serious woke tendency within British society. After decades of liberal ideological hegemony, the point of no return may have already been passed.
