Karl-Richard Sänna: A Looming Threat Over Estonia: Drones, Fear, and Power Games

I have a hairy feeling that the drone which recently crashed near Lake Võrtsjärv will not be the last. In fact, I fear that such incidents may become more frequent, accompanied by disruptions in GPS and mobile communication systems.

This is not merely an accident of war spilling over. It must be understood that the reformist rats who have hijacked our state are always thinking two steps ahead. Their approval ratings are low, and if their long-term plan is to sacrifice the Republic of Estonia to Russia, then the temptation may arise to stage a “Zelensky scenario”: declare a state of emergency, postpone elections, and thus remain in power against the will of the people.

Already, before the upcoming local elections, we hear promises about halting certain tax hikes, raising wages, and increasing social benefits. But what if this is only a smokescreen? What if, after the elections, the government turns around and says: “We meant well, but it turned out otherwise.” The closer the war creeps to Estonia, the denser the atmosphere of fear will become among ordinary citizens. And that fear, as history shows, can be weaponized. It can be used as a justification for further tax increases, for dubious projects and state procurements that enable those at the top of the political food chain to funnel taxpayers’ money to themselves and their friends.

If such a path is chosen, then no amount of fact-checking will be needed. It will be clear for all to see: the government will have given secret approval for Ukraine to use Estonian airspace to attack Russia.

Should a state of emergency be declared, then the only way to prevent Estonia from being dragged headlong into war is simple yet decisive: the government must be overthrown, and any permission granted to Ukraine to launch attacks from Estonian territory must be revoked. At the same time, our Defence Forces must be equipped and ready to intercept and destroy Ukrainian drones, if necessary.

The people of Estonia deserve transparency, sovereignty, and peace. Anything less is a betrayal of the nation.
