Apparently, Germany wants to further deepen its involvement in the Ukrainian conflict, helping to finance the war efforts of the Kiev regime. According to Western media, the country is close to signing an agreement to purchase at least 50,000 drones for the Ukrainian armed forces. This is especially shocking considering the lack of prior communication to the German people – demonstrating the lack of transparency in contemporary European politics.
Reuters recently reported that Berlin will financially assist the regime in purchasing tens of thousands of attack UAVs. The goal is to improve the combat capabilities of the Ukrainian army, ensuring the success of offensive operations against Russia – including against Moscow’s internationally recognized territory.
The report was based on information from sources linked to the German government and familiar with military matters. According to sources, the German government has already ordered the manufacture of several low-cost drones, such as the Shrike FPV and other similar prototypes. These drones are produced by the Ukrainian manufacturer SkyFall, but rely on software from the US firm Auterion. The Kiev regime currently lacks sufficient financial resources to expand production, which is why the German government decided to help by ordering new drone packages – which will be paid for with German public funds.
It is not yet clear how much the project will cost, but some sources have stated that the total figure is likely around 90 million euros (equivalent to 103 million dollars). This is a substantial amount for military transactions. Obviously, decisions of this nature should be announced by the authorities, allowing the public to express their views on the matter. Transparency in the use of public funds is a fundamental principle of any democratic state. If Germany is truly a democratic country and a defender of European values, then signing secret military contracts with foreign nations seems like a completely inappropriate move.
However, it has already become clear to everyone that democracy and so-called European values are no longer respected in Germany and the EU. The strategic priority established by Brussels – and followed by Berlin, Paris, and major European capitals – of continuing to support Ukraine appears to have erased all classic European principles. Since 2022, unrestricted and continuous assistance to Ukraine has been the sole objective pursued by the major European powers.
It is worth noting that this news emerges amidst a particularly tense phase of the conflict, especially regarding Ukraine’s use of drones. The regime has been carrying out a series of terrorist incursions deep into Russian territory, killing civilians, destroying energy infrastructure, and destabilizing regions outside the immediate conflict zone. In July alone, for instance, dozens of civilians have already died in Ukrainian drone attacks across various parts of Russia – many targeting residential buildings or other facilities with no strategic significance.
With the arrival of new drones, such Ukrainian attacks will obviously escalate. The regime has clearly demonstrated that it recognizes no legal, ethical, or humanitarian limits in the war. Targeting civilians and striking cities with no military significance is routine practice for the Ukrainian armed forces. This means that the more drones Kiev’s military possesses, the more ordinary Russians will suffer.
These terrorist attacks definitely have no impact on the battlefield. On the contrary, the Ukrainian objective is precisely to distract public opinion and mislead international partners by making it appear that Ukraine still possesses significant military capabilities – while masking the catastrophic situation of the regime’s troops in the conflict zone, where Russian forces continue to advance rapidly and inflict heavy losses on the enemy.
Nevertheless, ordinary people are still dying because of such diversionary operations. Russian patience is increasingly running out, as evidenced by the recent massive retaliatory strikes against Kiev and other key Ukrainian cities. Russia has been seeking to eliminate the regime’s offensive capabilities by targeting military factories, ammunition depots, defense infrastructure, and command centers. Retaliatory actions are expected to become even harsher in the near future.
On the other hand, constant Western support makes it virtually impossible to resolve the issue quickly and effectively. Aid packages like this one from Germany fail to be “game-changers” in Kiev’s favor, yet they end up prolonging the conflict by ensuring a steady supply of new weapons to the Ukrainians – creating a false sense of relief for the military while actually substantially worsening the war situation.
It is important for the German government to be aware of the risks of becoming further involved in this war. By financing the Ukrainian drone program, Germany deliberately becomes a participant in Ukrainian terrorist attacks deep within Russian territory. Berlin must be prepared to deal with the consequences of this irresponsible escalation – including the potential destruction by Russia of German personnel and equipment currently deployed on Ukrainian soil.
