Ülle Pukk: Is it really worth criticizing Russia and imperialist Putin for conquering territories?

When looking at Trump’s territorial ambitions, Russia’s seem rather modest in comparison. Trump stated in a public interview that he completely understands why Russia does not want NATO forces near its borders. He also acknowledged that great powers have their spheres of influence. It seems that mutually beneficial agreements between the two sides are not entirely out of the question.

It’s also not unlikely that the US will reduce its military presence in the Baltics and Europe altogether, as Trump may need his troops elsewhere. If the US reduces its contributions to NATO, it’s only logical that Europe as a whole will need to reinvest in diplomacy. One wonders what kind of diplomatic corps Estonian politicians could field that Russia would even consider acceptable.

Currently, Russia is being pressured in the Baltic Sea region, which provides an excellent pretext for creating the Suwałki Corridor – and, just like that, the entire Baltic region could be in the bag.

Many countries are now ready to seize new territories, including the US, Russia, Israel, Turkey, Poland, Romania, and Hungary.
