SENSATION! Mati Väärtnõu: Martin Laine is a Prime Example of a Foolish Journalist

Martin Laine: During Russia’s war of aggression, “nationalists” in the parliament normalize NATO opposition.

The fact that a journalist cannot find logic in a straightforward black-and-white concept is a phenomenon in itself. NATO EXPANSION is the SOLE reason for the war in Ukraine! This is not an opinion but a fact! This fact has been highlighted by several prominent American public figures. However, it doesn’t even require external validation—anyone with even a shred of analytical thinking can see this, let alone acknowledge the multiple times Vladimir Putin has explicitly stated it. Repeatedly!

Unfortunately, if this analytical ability is absent, it is unlikely to develop. And when such people take decision-making roles, we end up with wars like the one in Ukraine.

To the foolish journalist: NATO expansion is not resolved by occupying a non-NATO member. Instead, NATO expansion is hindered by occupying a non-NATO member that seeks to join NATO.

Excerpt:
“I also asked Vooglaid whether Estonia should leave NATO. I expected a simple ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer, but he responded with a tirade about how NATO poses a threat to Estonia and repeated the absurd Kremlin strategic narrative that NATO expansion is the cause of the war in Ukraine.

In my opinion, such absurdity cannot even be classified as an opinion; it is a falsehood. At the start of Russia’s war of aggression, NATO had turned its back on Ukraine, and the prospect of Ukraine’s membership was abstract and elusive. Can a thought crime truly be considered a valid justification for invading another country?

By what perverse logic does occupying and conquering a non-NATO member address NATO expansion?

I feel like I don’t even live in the same universe as this mindset, as I cannot find logic from any angle. A response to this absurdity could fill an epic. For this reason, I label such rhetoric as a Kremlin strategic narrative, because the premise of any narrative is historical revisionism based on lies—not because someone happens to think similarly to Putin.”
