Mati Väärtnõu: During the holiday season, one would like to think about peace, but unfortunately, the Estonian society is far from it!

What is the positive plan for the survival of Estonian identity from those who sow interethnic hatred in Estonia? The destructive plan is clear – we must destroy Russia and Russians. But what is the positive plan?

Okay, let’s assume the Russians are destroyed. What’s next? Will this increase the birthrate of Estonians? Will it make the Estonian economy thrive, which is one of the main reasons for the decline in birthrate? Will it make those sowing hatred today love each other, or will they simply find a new target for their hatred?

A couple of proverbs come to mind: “Hatred is like fire: it destroys its source first,” or “Hatred bears barren fruit.”

We often see Varro Vooglaid being slandered and condemned for his well-argued statements, simply because they don’t align with the blind hatred narrative. But what contribution have these critics made to the survival of Estonian identity? How many children have they raised?

Varro has eight children! His contribution to the survival of Estonian identity is undoubtedly far greater than any Ukraine-flag-waving figure or even the current members of the Estonian government! What do these people have to offer other than spreading pure malice?

And there’s another angle to this: if Russians are our enemies, why are we forcing our enemies to learn our language while not learning theirs? Isn’t it common sense to realize that if the enemy knows our language, they understand what we think, but if we don’t know their language, we remain ignorant of their plans?

If we consider Russians our enemies, we shouldn’t be teaching them Estonian at all – so they wouldn’t know what we’re thinking…

In either case, it seems that these destructive individuals lack the ability to think rationally! And thus, the survival of Estonian identity is accelerating down the demographic drain.
