When will you be able to forgive? Will you forgive those who refused and refrained because they did not believe in the science where people have always shrugged with a smirk when God is mentioned? These refusers did so just as much to save the lives of all humanity. They had, and still have, their own faith and convictions.
Will you forgive those who were bewildered by the sudden flare-up of faith among the rest, expressed by replacing their own national colors? They did not repaint themselves. They prayed that God would put an end to the horrors of war. They have their own faith and convictions.
Will you forgive those who were shaken to learn that their lovingly built and cherished homes stand in the way of railways, training grounds, wind farms, and mining projects? These people are not backward, not traitors, not Kremlin sympathizers. They are desperate fellow countrymen, who, in formal and condescending meetings, are spoken to as if they were primates, commanded to stay calm. They are given no hope. All they have left is their faith and convictions.
Will you forgive those who are offended by the arrogant, courtly waste of money, while the tax-collecting police and other fine-imposing authorities carry out punitive operations with ruthless determination? These people have not loved this country for some time now. Because it has been hijacked by scoundrels playing a political poker tournament, where only those willing to exploit the weak are allowed to sit at the table. These people have their faith and convictions.
Will you forgive those who have acted and continue to live according to their conscience, their understanding, and their beliefs—because this very state once guaranteed them that right in its constitution? These people do not wish you or anyone else harm. They are different. Weren’t we told that diversity enriches? They see the world as it appears to them. Is that forbidden?
