Climate change as an excuse: Exposed in the Netherlands – EU-wide control mechanism planned? COVID 2.0 with a green paint job

Opinion

From pandemic to climate dictatorship? A Dutch government report reveals frightening facts.

In a largely ignored but explosive letter to the Dutch parliament in December 2024, Climate Minister Christianne van der Wal publicly acknowledged what many critics have feared for years: “climate protection” could in future serve as a legal basis for restricting basic civil rights such as freedom of movement. The reference to “general interest” – once used during the corona years to justify lockdowns, curfews and bans on gatherings – is now back. This time in the name of climate.

The wording is dry and legally correct, but the content is explosive:
the minister says that advertising for fossil fuel-based products could be banned across the EU, even if it restricts the “free movement of goods and services.” A prerequisite: it must be “proportionate” – that is, politically justifiable. Anyone who doesn’t think about the rhetorical tricks used during the coronavirus pandemic is a scoundrel.

From COVID to CO₂: Same script with green

The parallels are striking:

  • At that time, the motto was: “Healthcare before freedom.”
  • Today’s motto is: “Climate protection before freedom.”
  • At that time: digital vaccination certificates.
  • Today: CO₂ accounts, mobility budgets and 15-minute cities.
  • At that time: quarantines and entry bans.
  • Soon? Travel restrictions due to “climate impact.”

In reality, it is  the same control model , just with a new label. COVID was an experiment – climate change is a permanent state of affairs. And: while coronavirus measures were still justified by emergency regulations, work is now underway  on permanent legal bases – based on EU law.

EU on the horizon: national template – transnational implementation

What is being formulated in The Hague is not an isolated case. The argument is based on Article 36 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. It allows for restrictions on fundamental freedoms if they serve the “general good.” What exactly this “general good” is – is determined as needed by the political elites in Brussels and Strasbourg.

More specifically, this means that if the Netherlands is allowed to impose a ban on fossil fuel advertising, other countries can do the same. And what initially only affects advertising could tomorrow also affect driving bans, air travel, meat consumption or heating regulation.

Population control through the back door

The excuse of “climate crisis” is as apt as “health emergency” – both are emotionally charged topics that can be used to morally delegitimize dissent. Those who don’t participate are labeled “climate deniers” or “social threats.”

But it’s not about environmental protection anymore. It’s about system management:

  • Central control of consumption and mobility
  • Digital IDs for behavior tracking
  • CO₂ rationing as a new instrument of social discipline
  • Geopolitical coordination under the green flag

Summary: The climate crisis is the new emergency

What was said “officially” in the Netherlands was previously just a warning to critics. Now it is clear in black and white: freedom of movement – one of the most basic human rights – must be sacrificed if it serves the “climate”.

COVID was just the beginning. Now the template is being applied to solving the next global problem. Not to protect the Earth, but to discipline its inhabitants.

Population control 2.0 – this time CO₂ compliant.
