FBI Wray drops a “Chinese infiltration” bomb on the way out, warns of a threat to critical infrastructure

Opinion

While the FBI — the same FBI that was involved in the Russiagage scam, polarizing half of America to focus on the Kremlin for a decade, the Chinese government — the same thing that enriched the Biden family to the extent of millions, has apparently “been lying on hold” across America and is ready to add critical infrastructure in an instant.

According to outgoing FBI Director Christopher Wray in Sunday’s appearance on “60 Minutes” – “The Chinese government is putting America’s civil-critical infrastructure on hold so that these networks can wreak havoc and cause real damage at a time and place of their choice.”

Wray described the CCP as the “biggest long-term threat” and “defining threat to our generation,” in part due to his publicly funded cyber program ready to “wreak havoc” on the whim – focusing on water treatment plants, the power grid, natural gas infrastructure and other systems.

According to Wray, China has previously placed malware throughout America’s infrastructure.

He also says Beijing has listened to reports from high-ranking U.S. officials.

Of course, if the media took the Russiagate ball and went full swing – Wray has been pretty consistent with China. In July 2000, he warned that nearly half of the FBI’s roughly 5,000 counterintelligence investigations were related to Chinese espionage.

“We have now reached the point where the FBI opens a new counterintelligence case involving China about every ten hours,” the FBI chief said, speaking at an event hosted by the Hudson Institute.

“The greatest long-term threat to our country’s information, intelligence assets and our economic viability is the threat of counterintelligence and economic espionage emanating from China,” he added.

A cyberattack of this magnitude would be aimed at preventing the deployment of U.S. troops, creating social panic and otherwise interfering in U.S. military action, the report shows.

China has been accused of several state-sponsored hacking campaigns targeting the U.S. — as well as European and Asian countries — over the past decade, but regularly denies being involved.

The U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Beijing-based cybersecurity firm Integrity Technology Group Inc. on Jan. 3 for allegedly participating in several anti-U.S. hacking attempts.

The hacks were linked to the Flax Typhoon, which the Treasury described as “a malicious Chinese state-backed cyber group that has been operating since at least 2021, often targeting organizations in critical infrastructure sectors in the U.S.,” according to a Treasury press release announcing the sanctions. – stripes.com

According to a Feb. 5 assessment by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, China is “the most active and persistent cyber threat to the U.S. government, the private sector, and critical infrastructure networks.”

“If Beijing believed that a major conflict with the United States was imminent, it would consider aggressive cyber operations against U.S. critical infrastructure and military assets,” the report said.

At a Jan. 6 press conference, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Jiakun Guo denied Beijing’s hacking program.

“We urge the U.S. to stop using the cybersecurity issue to denigrate and smear China. The U.S. has been trumping the so-called China hack for some time now and even used it to impose illegal and unilateral sanctions on China,” he said.
