Lauri Jürgenson: It seems like we have two Estonias.

UNDER THE SPOTLIGHT ⟩ Has Estonia Complained Itself into Poverty?

One Estonia threatens to tear Russia apart (a bit less lately), eagerly promotes homosexuality, supports pedophilia, funds abortions, raises taxes, expands Nursipalu, builds wind farms both offshore and on land, recently demolished a newly renovated overpass, is about to start mining phosphorite, and continues building Rail Baltic. This Estonia behaves arrogantly, meddles in other countries’ affairs, lets in foreign people, throws money at Ukraine and other places with no hope of getting it back or benefiting the country in any way. It openly tramples on the constitution, hosts lavish parties costing tens of thousands of euros, and praises itself through ratings in state and mainstream media.

And then there is the other Estonia. The Estonia that complains about poverty, sells off homes and leaves, or keeps its fingers crossed, hoping this madness will end and the guilty will be held accountable.

One Estonia has a grinning, bloodthirsty squirrel face, a pentagram on its forehead, and a Ukrainian flag on its chest. The other Estonia has a humiliated and downtrodden face, struggling through its last spasms with a broken spine.

So yeah… February 24th is approaching. Time for a herring sandwich.
